Some home-based job listings fail to provide real work, and sometimes the market seems to slump. Learn how to advertise for self employment, and create opportunity.

Can’t find home-based jobs? Many professionals who want to work at home run into the same brick wall. Some job listings and job announcements turn out to be little more than scams, while others seem to provide only very low pay…and that’s when it’s even possible to find potential self employment job opportunities at all. Want to turn it all around? Learn how to advertise for self employment.

The current economic crisis and job market slump is affecting everyone, even those who survive by home based and online jobs. There is a way for self employed professionals to attempt to scare up their own work, however: learn how to advertise.

Advertise Self Employment Skills

Can’t find home based jobs or work at home opportunities? Don’t keep repeating the same pattern of job board searching, search engine hunting and just plain hoping for something to come along. Take a more active stance on self employment: advertise it.

Job market slowing down? Listings looking a little slim? Why not take out an ad to broadcast self employment skills and experience? Craigslist is only one national job board that allows users to place ads for free. There are many places where professionals can show off their resumes, post an ad looking for work or potentially make business connections. Sometimes, landing a home based job is as easy as establishing an online presence.

Taking out an Ad

To advertise self employment skills by taking out an ad, simply find a reputable job board which allows people to post free of charge. Professionals may choose to sign up to a site and pay a fee to create this ad, but when finding work is a problem this is not advisable. The ad itself should be short and sweet, containing a name and email address as the only contact information (it’s simply not a good idea to provide very personal information in any online, publicly viewed format). Outline self employment skills and experience, and be sure the ad is clear that the professional in question is looking for home based jobs and work at home projects.

Creating a Site

Advertising for self employment isn’t just about taking out ads that ask for work. It’s a good idea to establish an online presence by creating a Web site as well. This can be done for free at other sites, such as Yahoo. The site should be simple, containing an email address and online portfolio (if possible) which showcases work. Be sure to provide some examples of work so your site becomes a point of referral to potential employers.

Home Based Jobs

Can’t find home-based jobs? Place ads, create a site and start forging business relationships. Write casual emails to those who have provided work in the past - perhaps they have need of a home based worker’s skills again. Advertise for self employment when looking for home-based jobs doesn’t seem to be working out.
